Research perspectives

The matrices below highlight some of the research themes in the diverse areas of service research and summarize the key perspectives to service in the different Aalto University schools.

In the Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture, the researchers focus their attention mainly on the level of individual service users and study people’s perspective on service. The research is centered around service design and experiences.

In the Aalto School of Business, the main attention is paid to business perspectives on service. Much of the research is centered around organizational issues, people as the users and co-producers of service and the outcomes of the economic activity related to service.

In the Aalto School of Science and Aalto School of Engineering, the processes and technology perspectives on service systems are in the center of attraction. Moreover, the researchers examine the societal impact of service systems.
