Exploring the BoP – workshop on 17.1.-18.1.2011
Reducing global poverty through innovative business enterprise
Aalto University invites actors from Finland and partner countries to create jointly innovative business models aiming at reducing poverty related problems in emerging markets and developing countries.
First interactive workshop of the sustainable and use-driven innovations at the BoP-markets – project is held on 17.-18.1.2011. The schedule of the workshop is attached. Main stakeholders of the workshop are private sector, civil society, universities, research institutes and public sector organizations supporting innovations and entrepreneurship.
The aim of the new project is to create a user-driven network promoting innovative and sustainable business enterprise at the BoP market. The following pilot projects will contribute to the development of this model:
1. Mobile Business, Kenya and Vietnam
2. Affordable Diagnostics, India
5. Innovative Entrepreneurship Education, Afghanistan + Nepal
Additionally other pilot projects are being planned with Mozambique and Vietnam. The goals of the interactive workshop are to define for each new project:
- What is the demand or problem that the business model aims to tackle?
- What kind of support does the business model need, and from where will these resources be attained?
- What are the next steps and roles of different stakeholders after the workshop?

If you participate on the 18th of January, please indicate which pilot project you would like to work on during the workshop. The workshop is free.

Uutta liiketoimintaa globaalia köyhyyttä vähentävillä innovaatioilla
Aalto –yliopisto kutsuu suomalaisia ja kumppanimaiden toimijoita luomaan yhdessä kannattavia köyhyyden ongelmia vähentäviä liiketoimintamalleja kehittyville markkinoille ja kehitysmaihin.
Kestävät ja käyttäjälähtöiset innovaatiot BoP –markkinoilla –hankkeen interaktiivinen työpaja järjestetään 17.-18.1.2011. Työpajan ohjelma on liitteenä. Työpajan kohderyhmänä ovat yritykset, kansalaisjärjestöt, yliopistojen ja tutkimuslaitosten asiantuntijat sekä innovaatioita tukevat julkisen sektorin tahot.
Uuden yhteistyöhankkeen tavoite on kehittää suomalainen toimintamalli BOP-markkinoille sekä käynnistää toiminta pilottihankkeilla. Toimintamallia työstetään ainakin seuraavien pilottihankkeiden kautta:
1. Mobiiliala, Kenia ja Vietnam
2. Edullinen diagnostiikka, Intia
3. Tekstiiliteollisuus, Brasilia
4. Bioenergia, Kenia
5. Innovatiivinen yrittäjyyskoulutus, Afganistan + Nepal
Lisäksi uusia pilottihankkeita on suunnitteilla Mosambikiin ja Vietnamiin. Interaktiivisen työpajan tavoitteina on määritellä uusille projekteille:
- Mikä on se kysyntä tai ongelma johon liiketoimintamallilla pyritään vastaamaan?
- Mitä tukea tarvitaan liiketoimintamallille, mistä nämä resurssit saadaan?
- Mitä tapahtuu työpajaan jälkeen ja ketkä vievät hanketta eteenpäin?
